SPECIALIST LEGAL LANGUAGE SUPPORT

Accuracy, legal context and intended use all matter.

Legal documents often depend on precise terminology, consistent names and dates, faithful rendering of evidence and a clear understanding of how the document will be used. We support solicitors, legal departments and professional clients with translations prepared around those practical requirements.

When instructing us, tell us the language pair, matter type, destination or receiving authority, deadline and whether certification is required.

LEGAL TRANSLATION — QUICK ANSWERS

Questions we are commonly asked by legal professionals.

What makes legal translation different from general translation?

Legal translation requires careful treatment of terminology, procedural context, names, dates, references and the document’s intended use. Where a court or authority has a specific requirement, that should be provided at instruction stage.

Can the translation be certified?

Yes, where appropriate. Certification requirements vary, so tell us the receiving court, authority, department or organisation before instruction. See our certified translation page for more detail.

Can you work on Legal Aid matters?

Yes. We support solicitors with translation and interpreting for legally aided matters. Firms remain responsible for applying the current Legal Aid Agency rules and their contract requirements.

Can you translate documents for service abroad?

Yes, but the exact language and translator statement may depend on the applicable procedural rules and destination. For example, some Civil and Family Procedure Rules require translations used for service abroad to be accompanied by a statement that the translation is correct and to include the translator’s name, address and qualifications.

How quickly can you provide a quote?

Send the document and the key requirements. We can then assess the language, volume, deadline, subject matter and certification needs before confirming availability and price.

For documents used in proceedings, the applicable court or procedural rules should always be checked. Civil Procedure Rules — Part 6.
